The Rio Carnival has been attracting more and more people every year and keeping with this trend the Sambodromo sectors have been revamped to accommodate even more people. New sectors and other buildings add to the comfort of the visitors and offer better seating facilities.
Sectors 2 to 8 have Grandstands that are affordable and offer a great view. Sambodromo sector 7 is where the judges are also seated and this is where the best performance of the Samba dancers happens. Sector 9 has Grandstands with numbered seating and is mostly occupied by tourists. The liveliest Sambodromo sectors are those that have the most Cariocas but if you want to watch the parade without any distractions then make sure you are in the right place.

Sector 10 typically has a large local population, offers a view of the parade from beginning to end and has the cheapest open boxes in the Sambadrome. Sector 11 is usually booked for large groups by cruise liners and is hard to come by. Both these Sambodromo sectors are close to the drummers and offer great entertainment if you are in the mood to groove. Sectors 12 and 13 have the most allocated chairs arranged like an open-air theatre and are comparable to open boxes in the comfort and view they offer.
